Recruitment activity has increased considerably through to course of 2015 across both our Front Office and Infrastructure (Risk and Compliance) teams.
Our team has been mandated on a significant volume of newly created Analyst and Associate level positions across a number of the global investment banks as they build teams in response to increased deal flow. This has become a particularly competitive market for high calibre talent, with experienced 2-5 year M&A professionals being presented with multiple opportunities, and in many cases multiple job offers when considering career moves. We have also continued our work in the infrastructure advisory and funds management market, completing a number of successful processes for junior and senior appointments.
We have also been mandated on a number of replacement and newly created Director and Head of level positions across the institutional lending markets (corporate, project, leveraged finance), particularly with some of the European and Asian brands growing teams in Australia. In comparison to the junior M&A market, higher volumes of experienced professionals are available for these senior opportunities, with banks looking for strong originators with extensive local networks, particularly when looking for growth of existing, or establishment of new product lines.
Infrastructure (Risk and Compliance)
Our risk and compliance team has been significantly more active across the market compared to 2014 as a result of the intensifying competition for experienced talent within this space.
AML has been a very busy sector, across both project related (e.g CDD remediation) and business as usual/AML advisory teams. We have been mandated on multiple first line AML advisory and second line assurance roles within this space, across both local and global institutions. Financial Crimes Compliance has proven to be a market where competition is highest for talent, with the subsequent upward pressure on salaries being a key market feature.
Our team have also been heavily involved in management of recruitment needs for both replacement and new roles within the equities, fixed income and investment banking/control room space. Roles have been available both on a permanent and contract basis, we have been consistently advising clients to move interview processes along as efficiently as possible to secure limited available talent.
